There are various kinds of books found on drug abuse in libraries located across the world. Basically these books deal with the issues of drug and alcohol abuses, which have seen a drastic increase in cases of these kinds of health problems. Often drug abuse turns out to be fatal and any person can get addicted to various kinds of drugs. Most of the times, these drugs may range from foods to certain fluids or even other forms of medicines. It has been seen that each drug has its level of addiction and in this context addiction levels can differ largely.

Different kinds of addictions are there and one can easily get addicted to certain forms of drugs, which can be detrimental in the long run. There is a little difference between drug abuse and drug use. We use drugs to give the body relief from some physical or internal ailment, but in drug abuse there is dependence of the body on the drug, even after the ailment has been cured. In these cases, alcohol abuse is also similar to drug abuse and has been regarded as a major health problem. Both alcohol and drug abuse leads to loss of health also.

So many facts are available in the libraries about drug abuse and most people are not aware of these facts. There are so many drugs which are vital for the health and general well being of the body. However, drug abuse has a wide range of definitions and in drug abuse this leads to taking a psychoactive drug or performance enhancing drug. The causes for consumption of these drugs include a non-therapeutic or non-medical effect.

Drug abuse can only mean a negative judgment of the drug use in question. You may also compare this with the term responsible drug use for alternative views. Amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methaqualone, and opium alkaloids are associated with the term abuse. The consumption of these drugs may lead to criminal penalty in addition to possible physical, social, and psychological harm.

Drug abuses can be of various kinds and these falls into four main categories, which include public health definitions, mass communication and vernacular usage, medical definitions, and political and criminal justice definitions. There are many statistics which reveal that 4.7% of the global population aged 15 to 64 is consuming these illicit drugs annually. Both mental and physical problems of the body are caused because of drug abuse and there are some drugs which are sold as illegal drugs or unlicensed production.

Drug abuse and alcohol abuse are very similar because here the person becomes addictive and cannot do without it. Usually the consumption of a certain amount of alcohol is healthy in the regular span of life like drugs. But the over use of alcohol is defined as alcohol abuse and it leads to different forms of physical and psychological effects along with inter personal effects. Side effects here include gain of weight and also the lack of appetite, which eventually leads to liver and lung problems along with many other similar forms of ailments.
