Congestive Heart Disease Symptoms
Congestive heart disease can be defined as the physical disorder in which the heart no longer pumps hard enough and as a result of the weak heart pumping the blood can back up into the lungs, gastrointestinal tract, liver and extremities leading to health problems. The congestive heart disease is also called congestive heart failure or the CHF, cardiac failure or heart failure in different countries and it can be stated that these names can be misleading. The meaning of these diseases and terms vary and they often tend to indicate that the heart has totally failed and that death is imminent.
But this is not the case with all the diseases related to this syndrome and the congestive heart disease is nearly always a chronic disease though it is a long-term condition and there are instances when it can sometimes develop suddenly. This disease is relatively common and out of every 100 people, between the ages of 27 and 74, almost 2 have congestive heart disease. This also implies that about 6 million people in the U.S. are affected by the disease and this disease usually becomes more common after the age of 74 and often leads to hospitalization among senior citizens.
There are various kinds of causes for these congestive heart disease but these are not limited and can vary from person to person. One of the most usual and common causes of this heart disease is the weakening of the heart muscle due to viral infections. There are also other reasons due to which the heart may be weakened and these include causes like toxins and alcohol abuse. It has also been seen in many cases that the weakening of the heart muscle by coronary artery disease can lead to heart attacks.
Due to the weakening of the heart muscle by heart valve disease, there is also a large amounts of blood leakage involved and caution needs to be exercised. The heart muscle stiffness can also lead to a blocked heart valve along with uncontrolled high blood pressure, which is also called hypertension. The causes of this syndrome can also be high levels of the thyroid hormone or the excessive use of amphetamines. The causes of these diseases are not usually restricted to the mentioned ones and there are chances that the causes may vary from person to person.
Some of the most common symptoms of Congestive Heart Disease include the weakening of the heart muscles but the symptoms of congestive heart disease depend on the side of the heart that is affected. There are symptoms like asthma that can be attributed to the heart and should not be taken lightly. Apart from this the other symptoms of these diseases include the blood pooling in the body's overall circulation and in the liver's circulation, enlargement of the heart and shortness of breath.
There are appearances of skin color, which is usually bluish or dusky along with swelling of the body and suffering of extremities. These symptoms should not be considered lightly and immediate check ups should be done to reduce this disease from getting fatal.
