Common Std Symptoms

Sexually Transmitted Diseases which is more commonly known as STD's have a diverse list of causes and also have a varied set of symptoms. The main thing that is complicated about this is that these diseases start out without any symptoms at all. It is though important to keep in mind that the only person who can actually diagnose a person with STD is a professional from health care. If the risk is felt by anyone for the disease then it is advisable that they have it checked by the doctor immediately to check for any kind of STD symptoms.

A sexually transmitted disease is spread mainly by sexual contact. In this one partner would transmit the disease causing organism to the other partner during sex. The sex could be referred to as oral, vaginal, anal etc. Every disease that affect eh sexual organs are not necessarily transmitted sexually. Sometimes some of them are not even connected with sex while others are simply sex associated.

Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases which is also curable. It is known to infect the cervix in women while in the men it infects the penile urethra. Its known symptoms are pain during sex and discharges from the penis or vagina. The reason why this STD is so common is because most people who actually get it do not get the symptoms for weeks together. Sometimes it goes up from weeks to months to even years. Even though the symptoms may not be there it is important that the patient get themselves screened for it and also treated if they feel that they might have been exposed to Chlamydia. This is so because it has the tendency to do heavy damage to the body in the long run. Latex condoms are the best in order to prevent from such a disease.

Syphilis is another STD which has a notorious history. It is known to be caused by the bacteria called Treponema pallidum which if untreated immediately may lead to serious complications. Syphilis is passed on by direct contact with the syphilis sores which would be seen on the external genitals as well as the mouth or even in the vagina or rectum. As these areas appear in places which are not covered by the condom, the condoms tend to reduce the likely hood of transmission but are not able to eliminate them completely. The small sores may heal themselves but that does not give the indication that the disease is gone. It only becomes difficult to detect s well as to treat it.

Trichomoniasis is diseases mostly found in women who are sexually active and is also a very common one. Most women mistake it to be a bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection as the symptoms are quite similar. Symptoms would include a frothy discharge, a strong vaginal odor, pain during intercourse, irritation as well as itching. Men can also get trichomoniasis but they don't have any such symptoms for it. If the woman has been diagnosed with this disease en it is important that the partner also gets himself treated quickly. This may not affect the men that much but it is advisable as once it is treated a woman would not want it again from her partner.
