Causes of Sleep Snoring:
There are a number of reasons that may be the culprits of the snoring that is giving you fame far and wide. While you're awake, muscles in your mouth, throat and nose keep the airways open hence you breathe openly and noiselessly. Snoring is the result of these airways getting blocked while you sleep. When you sleep, for one reason or the other, the airways get blocked and the air doesn't flow openly and hence while the lungs struggle for the air, the orchestra in your throat gets a chance to show its talent. Now there are a few reasons that will cause or aggravate the snoring, these are;
1. You Sleep On Your Back: if you sleep on your back, your airways will get blocked and you'll be snoring. No rocket science, but while you lie on your back, the muscles fall flat on the airways, thus blocking them. What you can do in this instance is to practice sleeping on your side.
2. You're A Dude: yeah sorry, this one doesn't have a cure. Research has shown that men are more likely to snore than women. If the idea that you are snoring while the ladies which share your health conditions and age group sleep soundlessly is worrying you, medical science has offered the ideal explanation.
3. A Blocked Nose: a blocked nose, caused by congestion, catarrh, nasal polyps or damage to the nose will lead to snoring in your sleep. You may use nasal dilators to rescue yourself.
4. Large Nostrils: enlarged nostrils may be the cause of your snoring as well.
5. Menopause: here's one for the ladies. If you're post-menopause, the chances that you will snore are significantly high.
6. Being Overweight: regardless of gender, being overweight will cause snoring. The excess fat that gathers around your neck will cause your airways to collapse. Hence you snore. Incorporate some stretches and light exercises into your daily routine to combat this.
7. Drinking: alcoholic drinks cause your muscles to relax more than necessary and will again cause a collapse of the airways. Also, alcohol aggravates the nasal passage and makes breathing difficult. The result is snoring. Avoid drinking before going to sleep and if you are over consuming alcohol, now would be a great time to cut back.
