Cause To Sleep Snoring
Snoring is a phenomenon that transcends age, anyone from a small child to good ol' grandpa can have a go at snoring while they snooze. Of course there are a number of issues that really score high on the annoyance meter, but snoring is like king. Nothing will make your roommate or sleeping partner kick you out of the bedroom faster than you making grizzly bear sounds at mid-night. Good news is, this is not the end of the world. Snoring problems in a good number of instances can be cured by making simple lifestyle changes and make you feel better about yourself, not to mention give you more comforting nights of fully functional sleep.
What is Snoring?
While we are asleep, turbulent airflow can cause the tissues of the nose and throat to vibrate and give rise to snoring. Essentially, snoring is a sound resulting from turbulent airflow that causes tissues to vibrate during sleep.
Causes of Snoring:
I guess the biggest question is, ‘where does the snoring come from?' or ‘what makes me snore?' Like I said earlier, anyone regardless of age can snore. So this means if you're twenty something, and your roommate says you could blow a hole in the roof at least it's not an implication that you're getting old. On the other hand, snoring is not something to take too lightly. As you'll read ahead, the causes of snoring, are the real problem you should be concerned about. Of itself snoring may be annoying, but the causes that underlie it are the ones worthy of attention.
Here's what may be causing the snores and what you could do to fix the problem;
1. Being Overweight: fatty tissue stored in the body or poor muscle tone will contribute to your snoring. Starting to exercise and controlling the fat in take in your diet will help your snoring considerably. Many people report sleeping soundly and soundlessly when they have a healthy exercise regime in their daily routine.
2. History of Smoking: if you have a history of smoking or are a heavy smoker, this may be the leading cause of your snoring problem. Also, even if you're in a situation of being a second-hand smoker, it will contribute to you snoring. The second-hand smoker should immediately remove himself/herself from the smoking environment. This will have a positive impact on both your sleep as well as general health. If you're a smoker, now is another great time and reason to consider quitting or at least for starters, cutting back.
3. Alcohol or Medication: if you're drinking alcohol before going to bed or heavily drinking during the day, this will cause discomfort in your sleep and snoring. If you're any kind of medication, this might also be the culprit behind the snoring. Consult with your physician if you can take some alternative medication.
4. Sleeping Posture: your sleeping posture also affects the quality of your sleep. When you sleep flat on your back, the flesh in your throat relaxes and blocks the air passage. A good habit is to start sleeping on your side. This will give your air passage a clearer opening and you will sleep better.
