Anti-snoring Remedy

According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology, 45 percent of normal adults snore occasionally and 25 percent snore every night. Are you raising an orchestra in your nose at night? Well the stats being what they are, and you being here and all, then there is a definite need to pay attention. Lots of people snore at lots of different volumes and some have set records of the volume, somewhere I think above 80 decibels. And many people don't see a professional about this thinking it's really not worth seeing a doctor over. But for those of you who snore, you know that it just sounds harmless, (no pun intended) but actually effects our personal lives. The wife/husband/girl or boyfriend can't sleep. And I am reminded yet again of the memorable episode of Grey's Anatomy where Mcdreamy had to sleep in another room or outside in the hammock.

Well you may be embarrassed to go to a doctor or a bit too busy so try some of these remedies instead. The most common cause of snoring is when the tongue falls back into the mouth. This happens when we sleep on our backs. So the first remedy is, stop sleeping on your back. It may be difficult to get used to at first and for that there is a small training exercise you can do. It may seem a bit extreme but it's either that or get a hammock for your spouse. Try sewing tennis ball or something relatively hard to the back of a night shirt. The discomfort will not allow you to sleep on your back. A few days of this and you will outgrow the habit of sleeping on your back. Another way to reduce snoring is to try using a stiffer and higher pillow. This will not let your tongue fall into the back of your mouth.

If this doesn't help then you're a different kind of snorer and your snoring is caused by thee blockage of your nasal pass. The reasons for this can be several. Like the base of your tongue being a bit big or your tonsils being large. Your nasal passage may not have enough lubrication or the muscles in your throat are loose and tend to flap around.

But you can still get rid of or reduce your snoring. There are available in the market nasal strips which help to open the nasal passage more to allow sufficient air to enter. Also available are nasal sprays, which lubricate the nasal passage and make the air flow in and out smoother and quieter. If you don't want to use either the strips or the spray, then try nose clips. The nose clips cure snoring by using a rare kind of earth magnet, (that right, earth magnet) that helps to increase the circulation of the nose and also open the nasal passage more.

Of course if you area smoker, I would definitely suggest you quit smoking. Or at the very least avoid drinking alcohol or smoking a cigarette right before going to bed. Also try not to eat food that causes the build up of mucus in your throat. If this doesn't work and your snoring persists at its usual levels then do see a doctor. You may be suffering from what is known as “sleep apnea" where at times the snorer stops breathing and never ignore loud snoring in a child. Sweet dream.
