Significance Of Popular Diets
The popular diet is the Mediterranean which is also the least restrictive and simple. The Mediterranean includes lots of fruits and vegetables, fats, protein, and alcohol. Most of the protein will come from food sources such as poultry, fish, dairy products, legumes, and nuts and seeds. Pork and beef should be omitted almost entirely if people really want to adhere to the Mediterranean diet. Another popular but simple diet is the Zone. All people really need to know about the zone is that they should balance all the food groups the following way, 40 percent carbohydrates, 30 percent fat, 30 percent protein. The pH diet is based on the acid and alkaline balance of the systems of the bodies. The human body is slightly alkaline hence the pH diet requires eating foods that high in alkaline content. On the other hand when people eat too many acidic foods, their system becomes unbalanced. When they eat too much acid foods, they may suffer from weight gain, bad concentration, fatigue and depression. Most of the people have never researched and therefore do not have a complete understanding of the pH diet. However, the pH diet concepts have been around for quite some years with roots in Chinese medicine.
A more simple diet is the macrobiotic which is high in unprocessed and natural foods, complex carbohydrates, and vegetables while low in saturated fats. Food should be organically grown and consumed fresh without the use of microwave ovens; and lastly food should be eaten slowly in a relaxed manner and in a relaxed setting.
The complete opposite of the pH and Macrobiotic is the Atkins diet which is also very popular among the diet plans. Carbohydrate component should be restricted or if possible completely eliminated. The purpose of restricting or eliminating carbohydrate part is to switch the body's metabolic rate from burning glucose to burning stored body fat. A process called lipolysis begins when the body enters the state of ketosis as a consequence of running out of excess carbohydrate component to burn.
Another popular but quite restrictive diet is the South Beach where people will have to understand the difference between good or bad carbohydrate and low or high glycemic foods. There are three phases in this diet plan; phase 1 lasts two weeks. During this phase dieters are to avoid high or moderately high-glycemic carbohydrates, such as dairy, bread, sugar, candy, potatoes, cereals, fruit, and grains. During Phase 2 whole grain foods, dairy products and fruits can be eaten in small amounts. However, this phase lasts until the desired body weight is met. Lastly, Phase 3 is simply maintaining the reduced weight and continuing with a good carbohydrate and low glycolic food diet.
Weight watchers is primarily a rated popular diet and this diet forces all its energy on this one aspect, that in this method of dieting people will be consuming a specified ratio of fats and calories only as per the chart of this diet plan. The specified intake of food stuff and calorie will control and manage the every day diet of the person. With this popular diet, people can strictly control the excess calorie ratio and moreover they can stick to lesser levels of fat food stuff.
