Causes Of Joint Pain

Joint pain can be due to different causes and the treatment is dependant upon the cause of the pain. Joint pain is a common disorder often associated with bone aging process. Unusual exertion or overuse of body joints can cause different joint pain. Other causes of joint pain include various injuries, Bursitis, Arthritis, Tendonitis, Infectious diseases like influenza, rheumatic fever, measles, hepatitis and mumps, and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

A joint is a place where two parts of bones meet, connected by one or more tendons or ligaments. The ends of one part of the bones are covered by cartilage, which allows the two bones to move easily. The bone joint is surrounded by a cartilaginous capsule that protects and supports it. The joint capsules are lined with a kind of tissue called synovium, which gives out synovial fluid, a clear substance that lubricates and nourishes the cartilage and bones inside the joint capsule. There are the three main causes of joint pain have been reported. Any sort of impact and accidents leading to sprain, cartilage or ligament tear or fractures can cause body joint pain. The affected part of the body and the nearby joints can become painful, depending upon the severity of the impact.

Arthritis is one of the most common types of joint pain. Arthritis literally means severe inflammation of one or more joints. Arthritis causes stiffness, pain and swelling in the particular area or the joints. Arthritis is mainly classified as one of the rheumatic diseases. These are typical conditions that are different individual illnesses, with differing complications, features, and treatments. The complications are similar in that they have a tendency to affect the ligaments, tendons, cartilage muscles and joints, and many have the potential to affect other internal parts of the body. More than 100 different types of joint arthritis are there. Together, the different types of arthritis make up the most common severe illness. The causes of arthritis actually depend on the form of arthritis. Causes include injury; hereditary factors; metabolic abnormalities such as gout; infections and unclear reasons.

Tendonitis is another type of joint pain which is actually the inflammation of a tendon. A tendon is a kind of fibrous tissue that connects a muscle to a bone. Tendons transmit the pull of the muscle to the bone to cause joint movement. Tendons can be very small, like those found in the hand, or large, like the Achilles tendon in the heel. Tendonitis is actually the result of a repetitive injury in the affected part of the body. Tendonitis occurs more often with increasing age because tendons become less flexible and more prone to injury as grow older. People who perform activities that require cyclic motions or place stress on joints are at higher risk for tendonitis.

Bursitis is the inflammation of a bursa; the plural form is bursae, which is a small, fluid-filled sac that acts as a cushion between a bone and other moving parts such as tendons or muscles. Bursae are present throughout the body. Bursitis pain occurs when a bursa becomes inflamed from injury, infection or due to an underlying various rheumatic condition.
