If people are trying to lose body weight, then they will need to know what their daily calorie intake for weight loss should be. The formula for losing body weight is very simple, people need to consume fewer calories than they expend. The numbers of calories people consume are from the foods they eat while the calories they expend are from both their exercise calories and their Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).
Basal Metabolic Rate is the count at which the body burns calories while at total rest. Although the formulas used to calculate the Basal Metabolic Rate of a person is not exact, they will give people a fairly accurate approximation of the number of calories they burn during the day excluding exercise. The most common formula used in this calculation is the Harris Benedict formula. This formula uses a person's weight, age, height and gender in the formula. The Basal Metabolic Rate is the starting point at which to calculate the calorie deficit in order to lose body weight.
In order to create a calorie shortage, people must ensure the calories consumed are less than their exercise calories and their Basal Metabolic Rate calories. However, one thing must be noted is that people can reduce calories too low, which in turn will slow their metabolism, changing their Basal Metabolic Rate. If people cut calories too much, their body will go into survival mode and begin to store food as fat. The general rule of calculation is that women should consume at least 1200 calories and men 1800 calories. These daily calorie needs of adult people may be even too low for some people who are closer to their ideal body weight. To lose body weight safely and at a rate that will likely be sustainable, health experts suggest creating a calorie deficit of 500 calories and no more than a 1000 calorie deficit. A calorie shortage is where people burn more calories than they consume. Creating a calorie intake deficit is the key to losing body weight. In order to know if people have created a deficit, they will need to know what calories they consumed and how many calories they burned from exercise and their Basal Metabolic Rate. The easiest way to track this is to use body weight loss tools.

A normal human body needs about 2000-2500 calories a day but it requires more in exercise, other physical and mental activities. About 200 Calorie per hour will be consumed if people walk 2mph and running a mile will consume 145 calories if a person is of 100kg. A person can lose one pound of body weight by burning 3500 calories by exercise or by reducing calorie intake. It is interesting that people can burn more calories in sleeping than do watching TV but it does not mean that they can serve their sleeping time in front of TV. For proper physical activities people need proper sleep up to 8 hours a day.
