There are numerous reasons why thousands of businesses have already chosen to incorporate the use of quality ergonomics in their workplace. Most of the companies adopt quality ergonomics to increase the productivity of the worker, improve presence, and protect the health of their employees; while others utilize the practice to simply fulfill the requirements or to meet the individual needs of some of the workers. Quality ergonomic assessments are designed and adapted to fit the needs of specific business. These can be all surrounding assessments including the entire workplace, or they can focus on specific areas, such as employee workstations and common areas that are used by everyone. A strong quality ergonomic assessment will focus on several areas like; the employees can be interviewed or asked to fill out their assessment checklists. Employs may also be monitored for position and workplace behavior; all areas undergoing the assessment will be recognized and rated for optimum safety, as part of the ergonomic risk assessment; furniture of the office and other equipment will be examined for comfort, efficiency, and safety.

Once the ergonomic assessment checklist and other paperwork are completed the information will be researched and a formal summary will be provided to the management citing the findings and approval. At that point the ergonomics will then work with management level, to begin a company movement or program that will focus on implementing the ergonomics plan. The ergonomic plan may include purchasing new office furniture, improving employee work habits, and other modifications.

Incorporating ergonomics in business and work strategy is an efficient way to improve worker safety and productivity, while staying focused on the bottom line.

In the work field of computers, ergonomics plays an important role in the design of monitors and keyboards that prevent uneasiness and strain while working for long hours. Various physical injuries have increased with the use of modern computer technology in the workplace. Prolonged and repetitive work at the computer workstation can gradually lead to discomfort, muscle aches and work related injuries. Posture and proper physical positioning at a computer workstation is important. The importance of quality ergonomic design was stated in old records dating back to the 17th Century.
