Ergonomics Logo - Barbre Ergonomics Logo

We spend a lot of time wearing hard hats, planos, hearing protection, and safety boots while on site in client shops, at jobsites, on heavy equipment, and with remote production gangs on the track. Jobsite assessments - our shoulder-to-shoulder walk-through and audits help us see what we see, opportunities to make jobs easier, faster, less costly, safer, and more comfortable to perform. We work directly with our front-line people and specialize in complex, long-cycle job tasks that make most standardized checklists useless. When we create job descriptions, they are not only based on real job demands, we set them up so that we can manage and update them as improvements and changes occur over time.

When needed, we apply sophisticated biomechanical evaluation and human modeling software to our analysis of industrial tasks to evaluate forces, postures, strength requirements, lifting, pushing, pulling, balance, stability, and complex exertions. With practical improvements and on-target training, we provide solutions to unsolvable problems, improvements to unchangeable operations, and fatigue relief for inherently difficult job tasks. We make our living finding ways to make work easier, less fatiguing, faster, safer, and more cost-effective. Many of the changes we recommend can be accomplished on-the-spot at low cost, and sometimes even no cost.

Whatever our investment in ergonomic improvements, including that which we make using us, we see to it that it becomes an investment in productivity, cost control, and taking care of people so they stay with us and adopt our goals as their goals. We have a great deal of experience with office ergonomics issues, working with call centers, data entry groups, customer support centers, dispatching centers, general employee workstations, individual "trouble calls" and medical management support.

We help groups and individuals work with greater comfort and efficiency in office environments, from the most modern and complex dispatching and call centers to the most challenging and modest cubbyholes. Most companies teach us many tricks we know for helping people outsmart workstation problems, from applying simple rearrangements and special techniques to making equipment decisions and reorganizing how work is to be done.

We create and deliver high-quality employee and supervisor training in office ergonomics. We can confidently answer employee questions and address concerns.

Does computer work damage the eyes? Does computer monitors emit harmful radiation?

Does typing cause carpal tunnel syndrome? Which ergonomic gadgets are worth buying? Does my neck & eyes hurt while working on the computer? How can I locate the mouse so my arm does not hurt? Does everyone need an adjustable keyboard tray? What chairs should we buy? These questions of concern can actually help us lead a more comfortable time at our workplace.

The word processing groups who take frequent mini-breaks can experience up to a 30% increase in productivity, while actually working 15-20 minutes less per

shift. Healthy people should probably not wear wrist splints while working. Offices should provide comfortable environment to improve comfort, productivity, and morale. These training and methods help people work with greater comfort and efficiency in modern offices, with the assistance of simple, powerful, and practical methods for combating fatigue.
