What Is Tinnitus And Is It Curable
Sometimes people may experience buzzing or whistling noise in their ears that may last for 24 hours a day. The sound may be constant without any break. This is not external source of noise, rather due to muscle contractions near the ear, changes in the blood flow or ear canal problems. Its not just people who suffer from tinnitus who hear this noise but almost all of the people sometime may experience tinnitus for short periods of time. For example, if people have been exposed to loud music for long periods of time, they sometimes can experience symptoms of tinnitus.
Normally, the ringing or buzzing sound in the ears goes way after awhile. But if it continues, chances are it is tinnitus problem. People who suffer from this problem find it very hard to cope with, as it is awfully disturbing and uncomfortable. People over the age of 40 are more likely to experience this tinnitus problem; in the younger age groups, this problem is quite rare. This hearing disease is more common in men than in women. Non vibratory tinnitus can be caused by dysfunction of the central or peripheral nerves involved with ears. People may experience hearing sound in one or both of the ears. Sometimes this type of tinnitus may seem like the constant sound is coming from inside the head.
Vibratory tinnitus, the other type of ear ringing can be the form of mechanical sounds created by muscle contractions near the ear, changes in the ear canal, or vascular blood flow problems involving the face or neck. It is possible that people may hear sounds such as their own pulse or the contractions of their muscles which is referred to as pulsate tinnitus. The prolonged exposure to loud noise which is medically termed as auditory trauma which can damage the nerves in the inner ear is suggested as a prime cause of tinnitus. However, with different types of hearing loss tinnitus may result later on and sometime can itself be a symptom of almost any hearing disorder.
Whether or not Tinnitus is curable is the topic of debate amongst physicians, scientists and researchers. Drugs such as alprazolam, lidocaine and anticonvulsant medications are often used to treat Tinnitus but the effects are usually short lived. Most of the people who are badly suffering from tinnitus have taken to natural medications in order to seek relief from the condition and its symptoms. While research is still being conducted on this annoying condition, people can take comfort by finding natural remedies or medications that ease the symptoms and provide relief. In fact, tinnitus could last a week, a year, or even a lifetime, but people can be rest assured that there is a cure to void them of the constant persistent ringing and have them living life to the fullest once again.
When people ask the question how long will tinnitus last-- it's important to factor in a number of different things including their current life habits as well as the medicine they take along with a couple of other factors. For most of the people tinnitus symptoms come from a lifetime or stress, trauma, loud noises, prescription medicine or a combination of all of these factors. In fact people should realize that tinnitus is actually a symptom of several hearing problems.
