Cures For Lyme Disease

Lyme diseases can be defined as the disease, which has been caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. This is most often acquired from the bite of an infected Ixodes or the black-legged tick, which is also known as a deer tick and is a common occurrence. The Borrelia is a gram negative bacterium and it has been seen that the Lyme disease in Europe is more often caused by Borrelia afzelii or Borrelia garinii. In other parts of the world like the areas of New York, this Lyme disease is common and it has been seen that more than half of the ticks are infected.

The instances of the Lyme disease have been reported most often in the Northeastern United States. However in the recent times this disease has also been reported in all 50 states of the country along with its far off neighbors like China, Europe, Japan, Australia and various other regions of the former Soviet Union. This disease is now also being transmitted to humans by the bite of infected blacklegged ticks and hence over the past few years, the Lyme disease has been receiving an increasing amount of attention.

This attention in the national media as well as the general health awareness program has been due to the growing number of cases. But there is one aspect of Lyme disease, which has caused more alarm in recent times as compared to the earlier years and this has become its inherent ability to avoid detection. Over a period of time the detection of this disease has become the main problem and it has been seen that more than often the symptoms of this disease resemble those of so many other more common maladies.

Hence this also results in various kinds of misdiagnoses and the inability to diagnose the underlying problem. This often leads to more trouble for those who are suffering from the disease as these people often can spend years enduring the symptoms of Lyme disease, which takes so long to get finally diagnosed and treated. The effects of these diseases can result in various kinds of inconvenience for the person suffering from the same and the cure for the disease is required urgently.

Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto has been determined as the predominant cause of Lyme disease as per researches in the U.S. The causes of these diseases include bacterium like Borrelia burgdorferi and the cure for the disease also largely depends in diagnosing the disease. Some of the most common symptoms that are associated with the disease include fever, lethargy, headache, pain in the muscle, stiffness of the neck, inflammation of the joints and other related symptoms that are general to various other diseases.

The cure for this disease includes Oral antibiotics Doxycycline, which has bacterio-static properties to halt the synthesis of bacteria replication. The other cure here is amoxicillin, which kills bacterium and inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. Ceftriaxone or the intravenous therapy also helps to kill bacterium and penetrates the central nervous system and apart from this there are various other anti-inflammatory medications for curing the same.
