Atypical Lyme Disease Symptoms

Lyme disease which is also known as borreliosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, which mainly is transmitted by ticks or mites. The clinical diagnostic criteria for CDC or the Center of Disease Control is not being very precise because it excludes many cases of Lyme reliable as it has been shown in many studies to confirm that this condition testserológics cast, in countless reports, false negatives, so that the diagnosis in the absence of better tests, remains an exercise in practical sagacity by the doctor as was at the time of romantic doctor endowed with the "clinical eye."

Lyme is actually known as the new great imitators as it can display symptoms of various diseases such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, affective disorder depression, madness megaloblastic, dementia, ALS, lupus syndrome of the Gulf War, Buttons and some fever and various other entities. There is enough medical evidence indicating that the active infection by B. burgdorferi is the actual cause of acute illness and the persistent symptoms in chronic Lyme disease. Lymes disease is even quite capable to affect individual pets differently. Certain pets show no visible symptoms, while several others exhibit fever, painful joints, vomiting, tiredness, and loss of appetite. The spirochete may harm heart condition, nervous system, eyes, and kidneys of pets, if their Lymes disease is not treated in time.

Cats typically suffer from loss of appetite, walking difficulties, eye damage, unusual breathing, and fever. Several cats severely infected with Lymes disease also show visible symptoms. Dogs diagnosed with acute Lymes disease may be lethargic, and can have fever ranging between 103°F - 105°F, along with poor appetite. They may also experience lameness. Kidney failure, heart disorders, aggression and confusion are other Lymes disease symptoms seen in dogs. From an individual experience with such diseased pet, one can say that dogs are infectious to Lymes bacterium, but they do not show visible Lymes disease symptoms. They also show the same symptoms for the disease as of humans.

Preventive measures of Lyme disease as suggested by the doctors are; one need to apply tick-terminating chemicals on their pet's exterior to shield them from Lymes disease spreading infectious ticks. People can use dips and sprays containing permethrins and pyrethrins to effectively kill ticks on horses, cats, and dogs. People should conduct the application of the dips or sprays very carefully, as several pets are allergic or are sensitive to these sprays and chemicals. People can also use rubber gloves during the application process. Tick collars can also aid to deject infective ticks from attacking the pets. People need to ensure that they never apply multiple repellents on their pet, because a blend of various chemicals could make their pet very sick.

Also people should ensure to safeguard their pet against ticks when admitting in a tick habitat, such as beach grass, wooded, shrubby, or grassy areas. One must trim grassy areas of the pet frequently to minimize tick habitation, which is the root cause of Lymes disease. People should also take care of the habitat with effective insecticides intended specifically for ticks.
