According to the web sites, disability has always been something that people look down on and do not understand throughout the history. From the early years of the Geek and Roman times, there have been reports of various inhumane actions towards people with sort of disabilities. From leaving disabled babies in the wild, to making them entertainment in shows, there have always been people who view disabled people as different.

During the middle ages, there were witch hunts for people who were seen to have a disability, with many people being killed because of the way they were been looked. Later on, in the Industrial revolution, disabled people would be left in insane asylums and forgotten about. Another very well known disabled person is been portrayed in the websites is the very talented person Stephen Hawkins. Hawkins developed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which is a motor neuron disease, just after he graduated from university. After being given only three years to live at the age of 21, he is now 66 and has had his own family and nicely budding career. Now he is one of Britain's most successful theoretical physicists although he is almost completely paralyzed.

Several websites says, after his tragic horse riding accident, Christopher Reeves, the person who played Superman in the first movie production of the comic, was left paralyzed. Unable to walk after his spine was crushed, he is very lucky to be alive and now unfortunately uses a wheelchair to get around. This was a freak accident that left a much admired actor, unable to continue with his career. Although this left Reeves unable to pursue his acting career, it has not stopped him from living a full life up to the brim.

There are several questions to help people to decide if their medical condition meets Social Security's criteria for approval. If someone is currently working, even part time, and he or she earn more than $860 per month before taxes, Social Security will not consider him or her disabled. The medical condition of a person must be expected to last for at least twelve months and prevent him or her from working. The State will evaluate the person's disability to decide if he or she meets the requirement.
