List Of Disabilities

A normal person would define it as the inability to perform some normal activities due to impairment, will be termed as disability. Disability can be physical or mental. This can again be further categorized into acquired disability and developmental disability. A person can be declared disable and can assure for the various social facilities and flexibilities allotted to them, but disability depends on its kind. At one hand disability of any kind might lead to embarrassment, at the other it might be an advantage over the others. Physical disabilities involve impairment of an organ or limb. Examples are cripple, blindness, polio etc.

Mobility is a category of impairment which includes people with varying types of physical disabilities. Disability in mobility can either be an acquired with older age problem or in-born. This type of disability could also be the effect of some chronic disease. People who even have a broken bone or joint also fall into this category of disability.

Spinal Cord Disability caused by injury in the spinal cord can sometimes lead to lifelong disabilities. This kind of spinal injury mostly occurs due to severe accidents. The spinal injury and disability can be complete or incomplete. In an incomplete spinal injury and disability, the messages conveyed by the spinal cord are not completely lost; whereas a complete spinal injury and disability results in a total malfunctioning of the sensory organs. In rarest of cases spinal cord injury and resultant disability can be a birth defect though.

Mental impairment refers to any mental deficiency or mental retardation. This is a sort of disorder of the brain which leads to improper or abnormal reactions and moods. A Brain Disability is a disability takes place in the brain occurs due to a brain injury. The intensity of the brain injury can range from mild, moderate and severe. There are mainly two types of brain injuries, Acquired Brain Injury or ABI and Traumatic Brain Injury or TBI. Acquired Brain Injury or ABI is not actually a hereditary type defect but is the degeneration that occurs after birth. The causes of Acquired Brain Injury cases of injury are many and are mainly because of external forces applied to the body parts. TBI or Traumatic Brain Injury results in emotional malfunctioning and behavioral disturbance.

Vision Disability is another type of disability; there are hundreds or thousands of people that suffer from minor to various serious vision injuries or impairments. These visual injuries can also result into some serious problems or diseases like blindness and ocular mental or physical trauma, to name a few. Some of the common vision disability includes scratched cornea, scratches on the sclera, diabetes related eye conditions, dry eyes and corneal graft.

Hearing disability is the category of disabilities that includes people that are completely or partially deaf. People who are partially dumb, they can use hearing-aid to do away with the hearing problem. But the situation get worsen if the deafness is complete. Cognitive disability is a kind of disability present in people who are suffering from dyslexia and various other learning difficulties. People suffering from dyslexia face difficulties in reading, writing and speaking.
