Diabetes Related Problems

Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and for that this disease is often termed as the silent killer. There are more than 20 million Americans suffering with this disease and these numbers are constantly increasing every year in exponential rate. Interestingly, another 6 million Americans are not even aware that they have diabetes even though these people tend to suffer with some early symptoms of diabetes for several years.

The main cause is lack of awareness about first signs of diabetes. To understand warning signs diabetes one should know that diabetes is associated with is beneficial in several ways. Most importantly, it can lead to early diagnosis and treatment, thereby ensuring an improved health for a long time. No matter which type of diabetes people may have, there are health concerns that they must absolutely be aware of. Failing to manage their diabetes is the leading factor in developing related health problems, but sometime, these health problems cannot be avoided, in spite of what people do.

Hyperglycemia is a common problem among diabetic patients. This means that the blood sugar level gets too high, and this can eventually lead to damage to the retina, the nerves, the kidneys, and the blood vessels, which affects the blood circulatory system. So, untreated diabetes, or diabetes that is not managed properly, can lead to kidney failure, blindness, amputations, and nerve damage. On top of this, strokes and heart attacks are also a strong possibility if diabetes is not managed properly.

Blood pressure often rises for acute diabetes, and people may have high cholesterol. These two conditions also contribute to kidney disease, heart disease, and blood circulation problems. While all of the above conditions are very serious, there are also some conditions that are less serious, but are brought on by diabetes. Various infections occur frequently, as the immune system is affected by diabetes. Low blood sugar or Hypoglycemia becomes an issue when the diabetic patients take too much insulin or oral medications for their diabetes, which can result in headaches, dizziness, trouble concentrating, tremors, and profuse sweating. Fainting and seizures can also be the result of such medications.

As people can see, having diabetes is more than just having high blood sugar levels. It has serious complications associated with it as well, which can even lead to death. If people have been diagnosed with diabetes, should make sure that they discuss management of the condition with their doctor, and follow his instructions for better control of their blood sugar levels. People may see diabetes as an intrusion in their life. People have to change the way that they eat, and get more exercise. Managing the diabetes to avoid these complications is much easier.

Careful monitoring of blood sugar levels provides relevant information that helps maintain control, which would consequently delay the development of various long-term complications for diabetes. Some of these long-term complications of diabetes could be the damage of nerves and blood vessels, loss of functioning of the kidneys, loss of sensation, heart disease and strokes. Considerable hair loss normally begins at the onset of diabetes and gradually becomes worse after the disease takes charge of the body. It is very important to get the hair loss symptom diagnosed, to know the root cause of such sudden tremendous hair fall. People need to seek a qualified doctor's advice, so that they can avoid further problems, and to desist from using hair lotions and conditioners, which will not help to solve the problem without dealing with diabetes.
