Free Dental Care - Free Dental Care For Eligible Children, High School Students And Seniors

A set of strong, healthy, sparking, clean, beautiful arranged teeth is everybody's dream, which can come true, if we take proper and regular care of our natural teeth. Dental health is a matter of life-long concern. We have often heard that we should brush regularly at least twice everyday and visit the dentist once a year and floss our teeth regularly to avoid infections and cavity.

Whatever our age, we can and should have a healthy mouth and a pleasant smile. Our dental health is an important part of our general health. With proper personal and professional care, we and our family can keep the permanent teeth for a lifetime, as nature intended.

Colgate-Palmolive's Bright Smiles, Bright Futures program partners with the American Dental Association to provide free dental screenings and checkups for needy kids across the USA including those in the local area. During our 2005 Send Smiles Back to School program, consumers who purchase Colgate-Palmolive products help support our $100,000 donation to this worthy cause. They also help us give millions of children a reason to smile.

Many schools and colleges have a free dental check up once a year to maintain a health record for students. This is a very critical part in any school program. Many who cannot afford can benefit from this while studying in school itself.

Nineteen pharmacy students from the University of Kansas had volunteered at the seventh annual Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation's Kansas Mission of Mercy, which provides free dental care to individuals who do not have access to dental care or lack resources to pay for it. It can be meant for school children and even for elders.

Since the program began in 2003, nearly 15,000 patients of all ages have received dental care valued at approximately $6.5 million at sites in Garden City (twice), Pittsburg, Salina, Topeka and Wichita. For the past three years, KU pharmacy students in the six-year doctor of pharmacy program have volunteered for the event, assisting Kansas pharmacists who help out at the clinic. Volunteering for the clinic is a community service project of the KU student chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association. All student volunteers are KU pharmacy students but not all are chapter members.

Many schools have these programs so that their students befit from these and can go back home and even motivate their parents to get dental check ups done regularly. Many hospitals often take out programs that offer free check ups for elderly people. Many of them get their check ups done and if surgery is required often that is also done free of cost. Many charitable organizations organize such events which helps the society overall. These charitable institutes organize these events with some hospital and help the ones in need.



Such events happen once a year and all of us should make the most of it by using such opportunities. Often dental check ups are very expensive so we should utilize these opportunities to keep our teeth and gums in good health.
