Exercise To Enhance Muscle Power

There are different techniques and styles of exercises which exist today for improving the muscle power of the body. There are different ways to enhance the muscle power but the plyometrics exercises are considered to be one of the best forms of exercises for improving the overall power of the muscles. This name is used for the kind of exercises which are developed to increase a muscle group's power so that it can generate a large amount of force quickly. These exercises may be used to improve the throwing power of a football quarterback or even for increasing the effectiveness of a boxer's punch.

These exercises are unlike the regular or traditional strength training exercises. The plyometric exercises are performed quickly and with intensity and some of the most common of these exercises include hops, jumps and bounding movements. One of the most popular plyometric exercises is jumping off a box and then rebounding off the floor back onto the box. The clap push-up is another popular option here. These plyometric training exercises use the muscles' cycle of lengthening and shortening so that muscle power can be increased.

These plyometric exercises start with a rapid stretch of a muscle, which is also known as the eccentric phase. This phase is then followed by a rapid shortening of the same muscle, which is known as the concentric phase. These forms of exercises were developed for the Russian Olympic team by Dr. Yuri Verkhoshansky. This exercise was initially known as "shock training" for the muscles. It was based on the research of athletes where it was seen that they had more strength and power coming out of a higher altitude landing when their muscles were stretched. This was in opposition to the normal jump.

This word has been taken from Latin, which means “plyo" and “metrics", which means “measurable increases". These studies revealed that the elite athletes showed measurable increases using the technique. There are different kinds of plyometric exercises available today like the low intensity leg hops to high intensity drills including box jumps, frog leaps, and other similar exercises. But these exercises are typically associated with plyometric training for the adult athlete.

There are some common games and activities that are also forms of these exercises including hop-scotch, jumping rope and jumping jacks. These resulted in the feet making contact with the ground and the quadriceps is subjected to the stretch-shortening cycle. These exercises are basically a natural part of many movements in games and include leaping, hopping and skipping seen when children play.

Physical fitness trainers around the world have used this form of exercise to enhance the muscle power of exercisers. These work on the different muscles of the body and target separate areas of the body like the catching and tossing a medicine ball while an exerciser lies on the back works on triceps and chest muscles at the same time. But these exercises also have the high risk of injuries if they are not performed with proper warm ups and cool down sessions every time you perform these set of exercises.
