Once identified, the person suffering needs to undergo a complete physical examination because the eating disorders affect other parts of the body as well particularly the heart. If the disorder is bulimia then it is most like they the food tract has also suffered damage from purging.

Never rule out hospitalization and be mentally prepared for it. Hospitalization may need to take place if the person has reached a state of severe malnutrition or dehydration or if the emotional and psychological problems are too complex. Doctors are now combining the use of group therapy with medication and the results have been favorable and positive. Last but not least, a dietician can be consulted to provide an outline for the diet to be followed during and post treatment.
