This helps in getting a certain level of confidence in your approach.

Try and crack some jokes to ease your self and also help the others enjoy. Remember that the audience is there because they believe that you would be giving them some knowledge or information. Hence you should be focused on giving them valuable information and this would help to take the attention away from the fact that you are nervous or are trying to overcome your fears.
