Food Supplements Causing Allergies

Allergies are those dreaded body reactions we all pray never to have. The fact is that allergies are perceived as prime evil. The fact of the matter is that despite their not so great outward expression, allergies are not the enemy. An allergic reaction is how the body tells us that what we are about to put inside ourself will be our ‘undoing'. It's a cry for caution, like yanking away an innocent child's hand from the fire that is to him a ‘pretty ball'. In the same manner, you may not know consciously that eating something that seems perfectly normal in fact may actually trigger the worst reactions inside of you. That's where the allergies play their role, they tell and they make you pay attention.

Basically, an allergy is the hypersensitive reaction of the body to what it feels will be an imbalance of its internal chemistry.

Causes of Allergy:

The human body can have an allergic reaction to anything, ranging from food, to seasonal changes, to animals and the list is quite exhaustive as every human being has a unique genetic make up which has differing strengths and weaknesses. You must of have seen people allergic to cats, flowers (pollen allergy), certain common use medicines, etc. For the human body, some chemical in any one of these objects means trouble.

Another reason for an allergy may be that you're simply tired. Exhaustion makes the body unable to properly take in the nutrition it may get or handle the circumstances and actually breakout to show its weakness. Stress also takes a toll on the body. Being stressed can cause rashes on the skin and even breaking out in sores in certain extreme cases.

Food Allergy:

Food allergy is not limited to peanuts and little kids. Many people have allergic reactions to a myriad of foods such as fish, onions, minerals, nuts, dairy products, etc. Again the individual's body make up, circumstances and activity levels all contribute towards the allergy. For this reason, many people shift from taking food supplements. But sometimes, even that doesn't solve the problem as you'll read ahead.

Food Supplements and Allergies:

Food Supplements seek to correct some nutritional deficiency in our body or the other, such as Multivitamin pills, Omega 3 supplements, calcium supplements, etc. The irony occurs when our body begins to reject the supplements that it actually needs. Let's delve a bit more into this.

While the purpose of taking supplements is to correct nutritional imbalances in the body, very often individuals make the mistake of overdose. When an excess amount of any nutrition is taken, the body will most certainly react to prevent it. This most comply happens with B complex vitamins, which taken in high doses to individuals with very active metabolism will cause an allergic reaction. Similarly, a person with slow metabolism can't really take a high dose of a mineral such as copper.

Another reason for allergic reactions occurring after taking food supplements is that when the body is low on certain nutrients, it may not react to any impurities in the environment. But as the food supplements correct the body's natural energy stores, the energy levels will also rise. This may cause allergic reactions to appear and make the individual suspect the food supplement.

Prevention and Cure:

The first thing to do when you begin to think you're having an allergic reaction to anything is to discontinue interaction with the object, in this case, stop taking the supplement. Allergic reactions can be contained but the process is a complex one. You should consult your physician immediately and get a thorough briefing on what might be causing your body to react.
