Remove Acne Marks

Acne remains the number one problem with most teenagers and a lot of us come out of it with scarring. While surgery remains an option for only the worst cases, even light scarring affects our appearance. But plastic surgery is not the only solution to acne scars. There are many simple home remedies that can effectively reduce and remove acne scaring.

Scarring is basically the result of skin damage. But we all know that new skin cells grow and the body sheds the old ones. Also, the more supple and moist your skin is, the faster it will re-grow and shed the old cells. Hence the key to reducing your acne scars lies in helping your skin grow new cells and keeping it moist. Here are some key steps that will have a significant impact in reducing your acne scars;

1. Drinking lots of water: it may sound redundant, but increasing your water intake can really help your acne as well as acne scars. When the body is well hydrated, the skin is moist and cell growth accelerates. Not only this, blood circulation is faster and so is the cleansing of toxins from the body. All this directly impacts the health of the skin. If you take your water intake to at least 8 glasses of water a day, within a week you will see visible improvement in both the acne and the acne scars.

2. Vitamin E: using medically approved face creams rich in Vitamin E has also proven to be helpful in reducing scaring. While some people prefer to take Vitamin E in the form of tablets or capsules, a topical use is better. Not only acne scarring, Vitamin E can also help with other kinds of marks and bruises. You can even opt for Vitamin E facials at your local beauty salon, just be sure your beautician knows what you require and the ingredients are genuine.

3. Lemon Juice: using lemon juice as a skin tonic can be very healthy for your skin. If you have acne, the lemon juice might sting, so you should dilute it with either water or milk. As for acne scarring, lemon juice will visible reduce the marks. A good idea would be to massage the juice gently onto your face and leave it on all night. If you can't leave it on all night, at least leave it on for half an hour daily.

4. Baking Soda and Olive Oil: after washing your face with lukewarm water at night, before going to bed, you should gently exfoliate your face with baking soda. This helps to gently remove dead skin cells. Don't apply the baking soda straight on, mix one part baking soda with two parts of water and gently massage all over your face. Afterwards, take about a teaspoon full of olive oil and massage it gently into your facial skin. Don't let it become too greasy, just enough to moisturize your skin and make it supple.

These home remedies may seem simple but they are quite effective. In case your scarring is severe, consult with your dermatologist and see what options you have apart from surgery.
